Goodbye dragon, and hello snake.

Happy CNY t all of you! (though it's alrd coming t an end soon) Hope you've had a great one! (:

Will be blogging about how my CNY went. But actually every yr my CNY also very standard one la. Haha.

初一 we'll all gather at my 大舅's house t 拜年, then either 初二 or 初三 we'll go t one of my relative's house (but usually we'll go t my eldest cousin's house). And for the past 2 CNYs, bf will come along w me t 拜年 on 初二 or 初三 and i'll go over t his aunt's place thereafter.

On a side note, i was really glad tt the honey cornflakes cups was so popular among my cousins, nephews and his cousins! Every container i brought along w me t visiting ended up empty by the end of the day. Hehehe. Didnt have much time t bake this yr so i only baked 2 types of goodies, as mentioned in the prev post w recipe included. And the honey cornflakes cupes shall be my must make every CNY! Think i'll prob needa make more next yr so tt there'll be enough for everyone. I've used up a total of 3 boxes of cornflakes and it's still not enough. Haha
These were just a part of my honey cornflakes cups collection. Think i had arnd 15 containers in total.

Managed t meetup w clique the wk before CNY t have our reunion dinner. And it was really a reunion tt day cos everyone came! It has been really really long since we had full 'attendance'. We decided on Soup Restaurant cos CNY so shld eat chinese food right? Lol.
Ootd: top from Ohvola, skorts from BKK.
Looking very sweet and girly tt day hor? HAHAHA. Sibei bu yao lian =/
We ordered a few of their popular dishes and also had our first lou hei tgt!
Their Yu Sheng was quite cheap ($19+ i think), which turned up pretty pathetic as well. Just look at the salmon, it's like so thin and doesnt seem fresh either. The carrot, radish etc were like all lumped up tgt so we were literally pulling the whole chunk of it all together and had t pull them apart.
Food for 6
Everyone's must order (i assume) ad Soup Restaurant. I'm not a fan of ginger so i'd just eat the chicken alone which kinda defeats the whole purpose of ordering this la. But they were all enjoying the ginger sauce. Haha
Cant rmb if this was the Ah gong or Ah ma's version.
Claypot tofu recommended by alas, which was really soft!
Managed t take a group photo, after ages!
After dinner was pretty much the usual chilling session. Ended up in Starbucks, which we usually do. Catching up w each other's lives, laughing like crazy over jokes and what not.

"Friends are God's way of taking care of us.", i really agree w that. And no matter how long it has been, we'd still have lotsa things t talk about when we meetup. I'm really grateful for these people in my life <3

I'm gonna share about food first, then end off w pictures during CNY. I think i've been eating a lot more, or rather snacking, during this CNY and it's making me grow fat ): Really gotta start exercising and eating healthy t detox a bit soon. Sighhhhh. Everyone dreads this part, dont we? If only we could just eat all we want and not gain weight at all. If only...

I was craving for korean BBQ for the longest time and bf brought me t satisfy my cravings! I love how he always tries his very best t satisfy my cravings and bringing me around t eat! But more like i'm telling him where t go and he brings us there. Hehe. He's like a god sent eating + growing fat partner t me. And i've got totally no issues w him growing fat or whatsoever. He's the one having issues w himself growing fat, though he did lose quite a bit of weight as compared t when we first got tgt. Honeymoon period everyone will be very 幸福 then end up 发福 also right? Very normal. Haha. Ok, enough of reminiscing the past.

So, we went t this korean restaurant at Marina Square, which was located on the same level as the foodcourt. We chanced upon it the other time and decided t head over there for dinner tt day since it was the nearest option we had.

It was quite empty when we reached, but the crowd started coming in soon when it hits the peak period. And i think they had some Groupon deal previously, which explains the crowd as well. The restaurant ended up being fullhouse.

Idk why they had prawn crackers in a korean restaurant though =/
Condiments ava. I usually like t eat my meat wrapped w rice, vege and bean paste sauce. But their bean paste sauce a.k.a the Ssamsang, is not quite like the rest. Not really t my liking.
Round 1!
They even had like daily specials. That day was tteokbokki, korean pancakes and kimchi fried rice. Bf didnt use t like this, or rather he didnt even wanted t try. But i think he kinda likes it now. Haha
I wouldnt say that they had a huge variety t choose from, but still decent for the price paid. The bill added up t $53.45 for 2, which was quite affordable for korean BBQ buffets and for somewhere in town. I think i'd still prefer and go back t Ssikkek for the price paid. BigBang at TPY was not too bad as well, though the other time we went, we bought the deal which was like $12+ per pax for lunch buffet. Damn worth it right!

I've been wanting t try out Jai Thai after hearing and seeing good reviews about it. And since they opened an outlet at Dhoby Exchange, we went over for dinner one of the days cos we're running out of ideas for what t eat.
We ordered the Phad Thai set, $6.80, which includes a drink and dessert for the day.
Prawn omelette, $6
Cabbage, $5
Pandan chicken, $4 for 2
Dessert of the day was just konjac jelly.
Idk but we were actually quite disappointed w the food there. We'd totally go back t Nakhon anytime even though Jai Thai is slightly cheaper. The noodles were slightly hard, kinda undercooked. The cabbages were normal, prawn omelette was reallyyyyy oily, though thai omelettes usually are a lil more oily considering the ones we had in BKK. The only decent food was prob the pandan chicken. However, i think i'd still prefer the ones from Nakhon. I'd rather go early or just queue for Nakhon i guess?

Had reunion dinner w family on the eve eve of CNY. We'd always stay home and have steamboat for dinner instead of heading out t eat at restaurants, more homely right? Haha.
Food for 6 pax. Alot hor? =/
CNY goodies exchange w shirley. Gave her one container of cornflakes and she gave me one container of assorted cookies! Hehehe
Watched Ah Boys To Men 2 later in the night w bf and his mum. I think i kinda preferred the first one t the second one, even though i think a lot preferred the second. But no matter which it is, it sure did make me feel sad and scared at the same time after watching it. Makes me dread the day tt bf's gonna enlist. Idk how im gonna cope w tt but i certainly hope i would be able t ): Time's passing by so fast, slow down abit can? )':

Had brunch at Maison Ikkoku on CNY eve before heading t the boy's house for reunion dinner. One thing i really liked about Maison Ikkoku is tt they accept same day reservations unlike a lot of other restaurants/cafes! This time round we went slightly before the brunch crowd (arnd 11+) so it was not full house yet, not sure if it's cos of CNY eve though.

We ordered lesser this time round cos i wanted t try their cakes! Hehe
Brunch for 2
Signature MI Late, $6.
Decided t try their signature latte this time round, it's very flavourful but not the very bitter kind. You'd like it if you're a coffee lover. But we kinda liked the caramel latte more cos their's are really good and balanced! Tried caramel latte at various places and they really couldnt be compared t MI's!
MI Spam Musubi, $3.
This is pretty much like a Spam sushi. I've always seen this on Food Network and been wanting t try this cos i'm a huge fan of luncheon meat. I've nvr tried Spam before but i know it's like the brother of luncheon meat. Haha. So we ordered this t try and 'jiak song'. I like their rice! It's like mixing furikake seasoning w rice, rolling it like a sushi and putting one slice of Spam on top. But i think i'd still prefer luncheon meat, Spam's a bit too salty for my liking. =/ This went very well w coffee as suggested, quite surprised and didnt uds why it did but it certainly did. Haha
Salmon Florentine, $18
We ordered the smoked salmon version this time round and we both preferred this! Maybe cos the parma ham was a little too thin and eating egg bens w the smoked salmon was a lot more shiok. Even for someone like bf who doesnt fancy smoked salmon liked this.
Red Velvet Cake, $7
Their Red Velvet Cake are worth the try too, but it's a lil more moist than the ones from Fabulous Bake Boy. I like red velvet cakes as long as the cream cheese taste isnt too strong cos i'm not a fan of cheese. And both this and the one from FBB falls into that category. Red velvet cupcakes tend t have a stronger cream cheese taste cos of the frosting, which i why i prefer cake versions. Haha

They had this Taro Cheesecake which looks really tempting and yummy too! But too bad it was a cheesecake, so we didnt order it cos i'm afraid tt i wouldnt like it and bf would have t finish it all by himself (too sinful for him). Lol.

And of course, we bought kaya rolls next door from Rich and Good Cake Shop again. Then we dropped by Le Cafe t see if they still had beancurd tarts and their popular Pineapple Golf Balls since dad didnt manage t get them the other day. Sadly, they dont sell beancurd tarts during CNY period, but they still had the pineapple tarts! So glad cos i've been wanting t buy for my parents t try since it was so highly raved. It was selling for $21.80 for 20pcs if i'm not wrong. I was really shocked when i carried it cos it was a lot heavier than i expected. Really 真材实料 one sia. Haha. And i think the main outlet at Middle Road prob has the best service among all. Didnt really encounter satisfactory service at the Veerasamy outlet. ):
Look how big they are!
Headed over t bf's house for dinner later in the evening.
Part of what we had for steamboat dinner, mostly all meat cos we're carnivores! Haha. And i love dipping shabu shabu in peanut sesame sauce!

Okay, i shall let the pictures do the talking now and summarise the rest of my CNY this year. Let's all enjoy the last few days of CNY, all the snacking and gambling cos we have a reason (or rather excuse) t do so. Hehe. :D (pardon the pic quality, cos i was too lazy t bring my DSLR out =/ )
CNY manicure

Ootd for 初二: Megagamie's Munich Pintuck Flare Dress in Cobalt (M), Adeline Metal Belt in Black, clutch from footin, heels from BKK (super cheap! got it for only 100THB i think?)

On bf: Fred perry shirt, Uniqlo jeans and Sperry loafers. I think his shirt looks too big and long for him, prob cos he lost abit of weight. The pic below looks alot better cos i pulled it up and back abit. Haha

And i love how my hair looks like it's dip-dyed here. Hehehe. Cheap thrill~
His shirt looks so much better here right? Lol
Patiently trying t finish fixing the puzzle
Small boy boy and big boy boy
Rayon having so much fun pulling his hair. Haha
Kids always love it when you carry them high up!
Lou hei at bf's aunt's hse later at night
Polaroids taken during the 3 days
初三 dinner gathering at bf's hse w his relatives
初七人日 lou hei w family. Bought Yu Sheng from Paradise Inn. It's not too bad cos the salmon's super thick, about $36 after discount w OCBC card. But my parents still prefered the one from Crystal Jade, prob cos they added crispy yam sticks t their Yu Sheng. But i heard tt their standard dropped alrd =/
We loved ours w lotsa crackers, will always buy an additional pack. It used t be like $1+ a pack, now it's like $3 a pack ):
Mum cooked 盆菜 this year and it was quite 丰富!
That's all for now. Will be back w my Vday post soon (i hope, cos im taking forever t finish 1 post ): )! Till then~
