New year, new beginnings

Happy new year everyone! Hope the year started well and has been good for all of you so far! (:

The last week of 2012 passed in a flash. How did you guys spend the last wk of the year? Jotting down new year solutions, meeting up w friends or busy w work or school? For me, I went t explore new places again! Hehe

I'm sure many of you have heard about Star Vista and it's gotten quite popular w a lot of new food joints. It's became one of my fav hangout after school since its so near. Haha

So one of the days after class, bf picked me up and we decided t go back t Nene Chicken for dinner.
Its located opp gong cha, at one of the corners.
The place is actually pretty small w limited seats. The first time we went arnd 3+ so it wasnt crowded, but the 2nd time we went arnd 7 and it was fullhouse! Thank god we reached a lil earlier and got ourselves a table at one of the corners facing out. (abit no privacy though, cos when you're eating passerby will just keep looking at you)
Something t keep you entertained while waiting for your food. They provide gloves too! So no need t dirty your fingers!
We've tried once a few weeks back and we kinda liked it! It's not too dry cos the chicken is coated w sauce, yet they managed t still retain the crispiness of the chicken. During our first visit, we tried the Swicy (which is sweet and spicy) and upgraded the drink t NeNe POP (i know it sounds a bit wrong, was trying hard not t laugh when the staff pronounced it =/ ). I cant really take spicy food but swicy was quite alright for me, still acceptable. It tastes a bit like the usual marination used in korean food.
Swicy wings & sticks, $7.90. It was still hot when it was served!
NeNe POP, + $1.90 t upgrade. When i saw the pics i thought its like KFC's popcorn chicken which will be like the size of the whole cup, but actually the bottom's the drink and the popcorn chicken and a few potato hash only covers tt small portion of the cup.
On our recent return visit, we ordered freaking hot and snowing cheese. Shall try other flavours again the next time we go again! I really wanted t try bulgogi though, but its only ava for the 16pc set. ):
Freaking hot wings & sticks, $7.90 and snowing cheese wings & sticks, $7.90
Judging from how red the sauce of freaking hot is, you'd probably be able t tell tt it's literally freaking hot. Bf was suffering half way cos it was so spicy he cldnt take it. He said it's the spiciest food he's ever had, and he kept drinking water while eating. He perspired till it looks like he just washed his hair or sth. Dont say i never warn you ah, think twice before ordering tt!

Im not really a cheese lover and i'm glad snowing cheese ain't too much for me, it was just nice w/o an overpowering cheese taste. I think it'll prob taste similar t the original one except for the cheese powder.

For $7.90 you get a set of 2 wings 2 sticks, fries, radish and drink, i think it's really worth it! I'd be very willing t pay for Nene chicken than KFC or texas chicken or whatever. It's prob the only fried chicken fast food chain i'd visit cos i dont really eat KFC and stuff. I cant rmb when's the last time i had KFC. Lol. And they have my favourite type of fries! I think they call tt cajun fries right? But both visits we left the radish untouched. Maybe the next time we shld just not get the radish. =/

After dinner, we went for desserts at Black Ball. Im so addicted t black ball i'll have it at least once every 2 wks. It brings me back t TW, just tt you pay more for less. ):
Black ball signature (icy), $4.90
The ones i had in Jiufen! LOOK AT THE DIFFERENCE! TW's one like so damn generous can! Cant wait t go back in july t eat this again!
But i think the ones from Black Ball are not as authentic as TW's cos the ones at Jiufen doesnt have pearls or grass jelly. Think they're going more for the ice kachang kinda style. They have 4 diff versions: hot, warm, cold and icy. I think the icy one's still the best, cos the ice adds more texture and its not as dry as the rest. I've tabao-ed home the cold and warm one before and it doesnt really have any liquid. It's more like eating grass jelly w toppings.

Bf and i dont really like the pearls so we've been ordering the mix and match lately, though its not very worth it la, for the same price you get lesser toppings. Perhaps we shld order the signature one and ask for no pearls instead. Haha

Met the boy after work on sunday at bugis cos i wanted t go kissjane t try sth but sadly they dont have it anm! ): But luckily it wasnt a wasted trip cos we managed t try this!
The crowd after we've order! Heng we were earlier by abit!
Was cheated by the emptiness and thought there wasnt a queue but actually everyone was waiting at the corners and not at the stall. Lol. The waiting time was quite alright though. Think we only waited for like 5mins?
We got the chocolate flavoured one ($2.50) and it doesnt disappoint! Expected the choc taste t be very mild but it wasnt. Chocolatey and crispy, what a great substitute for HK's. Haha
Headed t La Pizzaiola for dinner after roaming for awhile. Since bf didnt drive tt day, we decided t find our way there and thankfully there was a direct bus (133) from bugis! It was another 5-10mins walk from the bus stop. Bf was damn cheesy, he said we'll take bus there so he can hold my hand and slowly walk there. Lol
You'll walk pass a lot of private estates
And tadah! We're finally here!
Wimbly lu, as mentioned in my previous post is also located here. We've been wanting t visit La Pizzaiola but everytime when we're at Wimbly Lu we alrd had dinner so were always too full for anything else but desserts (always space for desserts right? haha).
Interior of the restaurant
He's super friendly and kept going around interacting w customers! Prob the boss of the restaurant or sth. Haha
Baby's classic lasagne, $14.90
This was really good! The serving looked small but actually its quite filling. It doesnt taste too cheesy and they were pretty generous w the ingredients used. There were plenty of ham used and everything just blended so well tgt. My first time trying lasagne and i really liked it!
The friendly guy even offered t take a picture for us! How nice! But idk why my face looks so round and my arm so fat ):
Oh, and see the bottle of water on the table? Tt costed $6.50! I initially thought he meant iced water when he said still water but when i saw him opening the bottle i had a strong feeling tts not the usual iced water. Lol =/
Hawaiana pizza, $14.90
Ahhhh, noms.
The pizza was one of the best i've ever had! Though i'd prefer thinner crust, i think their crust was done really well. It wasnt too thick or too thin, just nice, and very fragrant! Their crust isnt like those you get from pizza hut or even pastamania maybe? Even though its not the super thin crust but you wouldnt get sick of it after eating too much of the dough. For the first time i actually finished the dough, usually after like the 2nd slice i'll start t only eat the part w the ingredients cos the crust was getting a bit too filling and 'gelat'. And it isnt as oily as those you get else where.

One thing i really liked about the pizza is that it remained as it is when it was being served. Those you get from pastamania/spizza etc, their crust gets soggy esp towards the middle, but this one doesnt! I really hated eating pizza when it gets super nua. Another thing is tt the pineapples used were super duper sweet and juicy it complements the pizza so well!

I think for the price paid, this place is really worth a visit. Good food at great value! Usually italian food will tend t be pricier so if you're thinking of sth nice and yet doesnt bring too much damage t your wallet, this is the right place t go! (:

My round & blurred face ):
Ootd: bandaged top from TTR, skater skirt from gmarket and gold tip flats from BKK
See the diff in pic qual! This was taken from my iphone 4s and it was a lot more grainy!
This was taken w bf's iphone 5 and its really not as grainy as the above

We started the last day of 2012 really early! Woke up arnd 8+ and went for a morning jog, came back t bathe and have breakfast and head t JB! Took a bus from bf's hse t woodlands and then took bus 950 t City Square. The traffic was really smooth throughout and we took about slightly more than an hour t reach JB, prob cos it was on a weekday morning.
I love how some effects make my hair look like its dyed! Hehehe. Dressed down in our disney couple tees bf bought from TW (:
The first place we went t when we reached city square was...
Yes! The famous dessert place tt can be seen everywhere in HK! If you'v been t HK you'll prob have seen this or tried this before. Now we dont have t go all the way t HK just for this anm! And it tasted pretty much the same t us anw. Haha
Like happy kids w toys, just tt we're happy kids w food
Bf got mango cube & mango juice crystal jade jelly (7.90RM) and i got aloe vera & crystal jade jelly (6.90RM)
The choices are limited for me cos i dont eat mango. ): Paul and bf would buy this everyday when we were in HK and even more than once a day. Lol

We went t Sushi King for lunch since we always have Nandos when we go t Jusco and decided t have sth else for a change.
They have free green tea!
Some of the sushi we took, all left w 1 cos bf ate them before i took pic! Lol
The best of the whole meal. I just had t order this cos unagi's so expensive in SG ever since they revised their prices ): This was only 25.90RM!
The food there was pretty average, and actually it wasnt exactly cheap either. The bill added up t 72.95RM and we didnt really eat much. =/

We rushed up t catch Jack Reacher at Cathay. It only costed us 22RM for 2!
And the commercial period was much shorter than SG's. I rmb Cathay used t have really short advertisements as compared t GV, but it seemed t have lengthened recently. ):

The show's not too bad w twists here and there. Action films cant be tt bad right? Haha. So after the movie we just roamed arnd and grab some stuff before heading back t SG. Wanted t leave earlier t avoid the jam since its a PH the next day.
They have these customised instax selling at Action City! Just like the ones we saw in BKK!
The mall was much more crowded after the movie ended arnd 4+ as compared t when we reached! There're queues almost everywhere! Wanted t eat in at Hui Lau Shan but there was a queue as well so we decided t just get our 2nd cup of drink.
I got coconut bird's nest & honey jelly (w/o mango topping) and bf got watermelon bird's nest & honey jelly (6.90RM each). Love their jelly series!
Had a light dinner at Marrybrown cos bf never tried it before. There used t be one at the airport if i nvr rmb wrongly.
Tower burger, 8.90RM. It's like a combination of mcspicy and mcchicken.

After filling our tummies, we went t get more food home so tt we have sth t eat later at night. We'll ALWAYS go back t SG w food. Lol
3 bags full of food. Bought cakes home for family so tt they can have them for breakfast the next day (:
We got 100g of Famous Amos cookies for only 9+RM if im not mistaken, some gummies, cakes from secret recipe (7RM each) and their christmas special turkey pretzel (tasted like pizza)! Wanted t get the cinnamon stix but they were sold out ):
Did this frame for the boy for our 1st yr anniversary and finally fixed back some of the pics tt've dropped. Looking at it always brings back lotsa memories <3
And guess what? I followed my new yr resolution well! Drove home tt day from bf's house. But cos i was too kan chiong, bf put the P-plate back up (even though i've got my license for more than a yr) so other drivers will be more forgiving. Haha

On the first day of the yr 2013, we spent our day feasting! Or rather half the day. Haha. Paul, bf and i went Momiji for brunch buffet! Free flow of king crab and beer!!!
1st jan was supposed t be the last day of this but they just extended it till 24th feb!
Momiji @ City Square (ironically, we're at city square again, but the one in SG haha)
Sushi & salad
KING CRAB!!!
Sashimi & shell food
Sushi corner
Handrolls
Teppanyaki
Fruits section
Desserts! But for once i didnt eat much =/ The jello was good though! Their eclair used t be better ):
Fondue
Haagen-Dazs icecream! How rare is this for buffet in SG!
Very wide spread right? It added up t $129.94 for 3pax! I ended up taking pictures of everything they have first before starting t eat. Lol
Round 1
Beef enoki
2nd round of crabs, fresh and still frozen!
Look how big it is!
The hardworking boy who had been cutting up the shells and removing the crab meat for us (he looks so serious). Such a sweetheart! <3
Look at tt chunk of meat!
W his masterpiece. lol
So much crab meattttt
Bf always manages t scoop icecream so perfectly for me!
Surprisingly bf ate quite a lot tt day! For once he didnt say he was veryyyy full but paul and i were the ones who were so full we felt like puking. Lol

City Square Mall #05-05/06
Tel : 6509 1193

Bf wanted t eat dairy queen after we walked around NTUC & Toys'r'us t digest abit but we saw this!
Yes, it's the same as the one i talked about in the beginning of this post. They have an outlet here too!
Bought the pandan coconut flavour but we still preferred the chocolate one though. It's weird tt bugis didnt have the pandan one.

Alright, im feeling hungry after all the food pictures. Shall end this post here and go grab some dinner. Haha. Here's wishing everyone a happy new year again! Have a great weekend everyone! (:
Happy new year, pull your ear!
